Best team coaching and
facilitation providers.
For People teams and leaders choosing help for a leadership team, a cross-functional group, or an offsite.
Team coaching works with a whole team over several months to change how it decides, disagrees, and holds itself accountable. Facilitation runs a single session or offsite so a group reaches a specific outcome, such as a strategic plan. Providers include Boon, CCL, Performance Consultants, AIIR, and Korn Ferry for team coaching; Leadership Strategies and Stewart Leadership for facilitation; and The Five Behaviors and FranklinCovey for team training.
Boon offers all three formats teams usually need through its Together program: six-month group coaching with the same facilitator, workshops for 15 to 45 people, and two to three day leadership offsites, with assessments before and after. 87% of participants report improved cross-functional collaboration.
A disclosure: this page lives on Boon's website, and Boon is one of the providers compared, judged by the same criteria as everyone else. Weigh our view accordingly. Details for other providers come from their public websites as of October 2026, and where a provider does not publish something, we say so. If you find something inaccurate, let us know.

Planning an offsite or team engagement?
See how Together runs group coaching, workshops, and offsites, measured before and after.
Explore TogetherTeam coaching vs facilitation vs training.
Most teams ask for an offsite when the real need is ongoing coaching, or ask for coaching when they need one well-run decision. Match the need to the format first. For more on formats, see workshop vs cohort vs one-on-one.
| If the need is | Choose | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The team keeps reopening decisions, avoids conflict, or does not trust each other | Team coaching | These are habits. Habits change over months of work on the team’s real issues, not in one day. |
| The team needs a strategic plan or a decision within a day or two | Facilitation | A skilled facilitator runs the process so the leader can take part instead of running the room. |
| A large group needs to align on a change and leave with owners and next steps | Facilitation | A designed workshop with pre-work and a synthesis gets more done than a long meeting. |
| A new leader is joining an established team | Facilitation | A structured assimilation session surfaces expectations early, before they turn into friction. |
| Many teams need the same language for trust or feedback | Team training | A shared model taught once to everyone is faster and cheaper per person than coaching each team. |
| An offsite went well, but nothing changed afterward | Team coaching | Follow-up sessions with the same facilitator turn offsite decisions into changed behavior. |
How to compare team coaching providers.
Every provider promises better collaboration and alignment. These seven questions show which ones will still matter to the team a month later.
Team coaching, facilitation, or training
Team coaching changes how a team works over months. Facilitation runs a session to reach a decision. Training teaches a model. Decide which you need before you compare providers.
Who is in the room, and their credentials
For facilitators, ask about the IAF Certified Professional Facilitator (CPF), which requires a live assessment, including a 30-minute facilitation demonstration, and is valid for four years, or INIFAC’s Certified Master Facilitator (CMF). For team coaches, ask about coaching credentials and team experience.
The same person throughout
Teams open up to someone who knows their history. A provider that rotates facilitators between sessions resets that trust every time.
Diagnosis before design
Good providers interview or assess the team before designing anything. A provider that sends a standard agenda before talking to the team is selling a workshop, not solving your problem.
What happens after the session
Decisions made at an offsite often fade once the team is back in its normal meetings. Ask what follow-up is included: a written synthesis, check-ins, or coaching for the leader and team afterward.
How change is measured
Ask how the provider will show the team works differently: an assessment before and after, observations from the facilitator, or a team survey repeated later.
What the quote includes
None of the providers in this guide publishes a price for team coaching or facilitation services. Compare quotes on what they include: design time, facilitation days, assessments, the synthesis report, and follow-up.

Boon
HybridBoon offers team coaching and facilitation in three formats through its Together program. Group coaching runs six months for a small group of 4 to 8, with monthly 90-minute sessions and the same facilitator throughout. Workshops serve 15 to 45 people over one or more days, with pre-work, a synthesis report, and follow-up coaching. Leadership offsites run two to three days for 10 to 30 leaders and close with action planning and follow-up. Together is one of five Boon programs (Scale, Grow, Exec, Together, Adapt), so a team’s work connects to each member’s own 1:1 coaching.

- +Group coaching, workshops, and offsites from one provider, so a team can move from a single session to ongoing work without changing vendors
- +The same facilitator through the engagement
- +Pre and post assessments of team coordination, communication, and decision-making alignment, plus facilitator observations, without exposing individual conversations
- +87% of participants report improved cross-functional collaboration, and manager feedback consistency improves 34%
- +Shared themes carried into Slack between group sessions
- +Quoted per engagement, including facilitation, content design, assessments, the synthesis report, and follow-up; engagements launch in 2 to 3 weeks
Limitations
- -Does not train your own people to facilitate; Leadership Strategies does
- -Not a strategic planning consultancy; teams that want a facilitated plan built on a named planning model may prefer Leadership Strategies or Stewart Leadership
- -Formats are sized for up to 45 people, so large all-company events are outside them
- -English-first delivery
Best for: Teams that need to change how they work together, with change they can measure
See Together for the formats and how an engagement runs.

When to train your own facilitator.
If your teams hold planning or retrospective sessions every quarter, hiring an outside facilitator each time adds up, and what they learn about your teams leaves with them. Training one or two internal people, through a course such as Leadership Strategies' four-day Effective Facilitator or toward the IAF's Certified Professional Facilitator credential, can cost less over a year and keeps the skill in the company. Boon does not sell facilitator training, and it is still often the right call.
Bring in an outside facilitator or team coach when:
- The leader needs to take part in the session instead of running it.
- The topic is sensitive enough that an insider cannot stay neutral, or be seen as neutral.
- The team's own dynamics are the problem, so nobody inside the team can name them.
- The work needs to continue for months, which is team coaching rather than a session.
When team coaching is the wrong tool.
We sell team coaching and facilitation, and they are still the wrong answer in these four situations.
The problem is one person
If one leader’s behavior is driving the friction, team sessions put the whole team through a problem that belongs in 1:1 coaching. Best executive coaching services.
Decision rights are undefined
If nobody knows who decides, a team session produces agreement that dissolves on Monday. Settle who owns which decisions first. Accountability when decision rights are undefined.
The reorganization is still moving
Coaching a team whose membership will change next month wastes the work. Wait until the seats are settled. Don’t develop while a reorg is still redrawing seats.
The leader has already decided
A facilitated session to build buy-in for a decision that is already made reads as theater, and teams notice. Announce it and explain it instead.
How to measure team coaching.
A good session feels productive in the room. Whether the team works differently shows up weeks later. Measure in three layers:
- Before you start: a team assessment of how it decides, communicates, and coordinates today.
- During the work: observations from the facilitator and a written synthesis of what the team agreed to change.
- After the engagement: the same assessment repeated, plus the business signals the team cares about, such as cycle time, decisions reopened, or cross-team escalations.
How Boon reports it: pre and post assessments of team coordination, communication, and decision-making alignment, with facilitator observations and a synthesis report. 87% of participants report improved cross-functional collaboration, and manager feedback consistency improves 34%.

Frequently asked questions
What are the best team coaching providers in 2026?
It depends on the need. For teams that need to change how they work together with measured results, Boon runs six-month group coaching, workshops, and two to three day offsites, assessed before and after. For facilitated strategic planning, Leadership Strategies or Stewart Leadership. For executive teams, Korn Ferry, AIIR, or CCL. For trust as the core problem, The Five Behaviors. Boon publishes this guide and is one of the providers compared.
What is the difference between team coaching and facilitation?
Team coaching works with the same team over months to change how it operates: how it decides, disagrees, and holds itself accountable. Facilitation runs a single session or offsite so a group reaches a specific outcome, such as a plan or a decision. Many teams start with a facilitated offsite and add team coaching so the decisions stick.
How do I compare team coaching providers?
Ask each provider how they diagnose the team before designing anything, whether the same person stays through the engagement, what follow-up is included, and how they will measure change. Then compare quotes on what they include, not the day rate.
How do I find a good facilitator for strategic planning?
Look for a facilitator with a defined planning process and a credential such as the IAF Certified Professional Facilitator (CPF) or INIFAC’s Certified Master Facilitator (CMF). Ask for examples of plans they facilitated and what happened after. Leadership Strategies and Stewart Leadership both offer facilitated strategic planning.
How long does team coaching take?
Most team coaching runs three to nine months. AIIR publishes tiers from one month to eight months, Performance Consultants usually runs six to nine months, and Boon’s group coaching runs six months of monthly 90-minute sessions. A single offsite or workshop is facilitation, not team coaching.
Can team coaching rebuild trust on a team?
Yes, when the lack of trust comes from how the team works rather than from one person or an unresolved structural problem. Trust rebuilds through repeated experience over months, which is why ongoing team coaching works better for trust than a one-day workshop.
